The Queens Kickshaw [Closed]
Jeremy's rating: ★★★★☆
I've been yelled at for saying nomorrific too much, so I'll simply say Queens Kickshaw is drool worthy. From its huge selection of coffees, teas, and ciders to its amazing grilled cheeses, the only thing missing is meat for the dedicated carnivore.

Delicious and hearty comfort food with just the right touch of grease makes for a happy Jen. Happy Jens can be found at The Queens Kickshaw. From the perfectly burnt grilled cheeses to the soothing drip coffee, there's no where I'd rather spend my mornings.
Over the past few years, I've found myself becoming less and less a fan of brunch. While I still enjoy any excuse to drown myself in food and drink cocktails before noon, I've just become bored of the usual suspects on the menu.
Luckily for me, Jeremy and I discovered The Queens Kickshaw only a few months into living in Astoria and now it's only a block and a half away from my front door. It came to the rescue with the ultimate comfort food, made up of mind-blowingly delicious and refreshingly unique vegetarian dishes that are so good, it makes a carnivore like myself forget that there's no meat. In fact, I didn't even notice the lack of meat until writing this review ... two and a half years after my first visit.
The Queens Kickshaw partners with New York based farmers and food artisans as an added bonus, supporting the community and ensuring fresh, local flavors.
During our last visit, Jeremy and I engaged in a Battle of the Grilled Cheeses; he ordered the gouda grilled cheese (which was basically nachos in sandwich form) and I ordered the cheddar grilled cheese with tomato soup. Ultimately, no one came out on top because there was no way either of those could be on the bottom. No. Way.
If you're not into grilled cheese, don't you even worry your pretty-little-grilled-cheese-hating-head over it. A few of my other favorite dishes are their avocado toast and their layered potato cake. In the evenings, on their weekday and dinner menu, The Queens Kickshaw also offer a few Asian-inspired dishes such as soba noodles and kimchi stew. Oh, and did I mention the live music Thursday and Friday evenings?
If you're not already out of your seat and running out the door, what are you waiting for? GET GOIN' MAN.
